Silver Salver

Our silver-plated salver is based on one created by silversmith Alexander Petrie in Charleston, South Carolina, c. 1750-60. The original piece resides in the collection of the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA), one of the museums that makes up Old Salem Museums & Gardens.

A salver was most often used to serve tea or coffee, protecting a tea table from spills and rings created by moisture. The "piecrust" edge of the slaver reflects those found on the tea tables upon which it would have been placed.

Our salver can be a lovely decorative addition to your home and makes a great receptacle for keys, cell phone, and change. It measures 7 1/8" in diameter.
