Leather Rounders Ball

The game of rounders can be traced back to sixteenth-century England. In America, it became a pastime during the Colonial period and by the nineteenth century, the game had underwent many changes and regional variations were introduced. Towns throughout the United States adopted their own versions and the game of rounders soon became known as "townball."

Rounders is said to be the predecessor of both baseball and softball and is still played today. It is a hitting and fielding game and the objective is to hit the ball and run around four bases to get a "rounder." The equipment used is a small 17" wooden bat and 2 3/4" diameter ball.
