In 1801, the Moravians founded Springplace Mission in northwestern Georgia. Anna Rosina Gambold was the principal author of these diaries, and she along with her husband, John, served at the Springplace Mission from 1805 until Anna's death in 1821.

The Moravian Springplace Mission to the Cherokees, a two-volume set, chronicles the details of Cherokee daily life. Originally written in German script, they are available for the first time in English.

Volume II includes diary entries from 1814-21, editor's epilogue, and a names index and subject index for both volumes.
