The courting candle was developed in the 1600s as a way for parents to time how long a gentleman suitor could visit with their daughter. They would set the candle burn time by placing a cut into the candle rope. A long rope of candle went to a favored young man while others received the short rope. This is an updated version of the courting candle with a patented clip that extinguishes the flame.
Each inch of candle has a burn time of approximately 20 minutes.
This citronella candle comes with a glass hurricane and metal base, measuring overall 13" high x 5" diameter.
As with all candles, please do not leave unattended while burning.
