Candle By The Hour, Horizontal
The courting candle was developed in the 1600s as a way for parents to time how long a gentleman suitor could visit with their daughter. They would set the candle burn time by placing a cut into the candle rope. A long rope of candle went to a favored young man while others received the short rope. This is an updated version of the courting candle with a patented clip that extinguishes the flame. The beeswax candle has a 48 hour burn time - each inch burning approximately 20 minutes.
Candle with base measures 7" high x 7" long x 3 1/2" wide. As with all candles, please do not leave unattended while burning.
