Catesby Frog Pillow

Mark Catesby was an English naturalist and a self-taught watercolor artist. His The Natural History of Carolina, Florida, and The Bahama Islands, was published in large folio with text in French and English. The first volume was completed in 1731, the second in 1743, and the appendix in 1748. The volumes were illustrated with more than 200 plates. Two volumes of this major work reside in the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA) in Old Salem.

This pillow has been embroidered with a frog image created by Catesby for his two-volume folio. The colors used are faithful to Catesby's original illustrations. There is a zipper and down insert.
