Friedrich Rothrock Plate
Friedrich Rothrock's (b.1772) training is not documented in the Moravian records, but he may have apprenticed with either Gottfried Aust or Rudolph Christ.
By 1793 Rothrock had set up his own pottery near the Moravian community of Friedburg, North Carolina.
Rothrock's use of floral and abstract motifs on his plates point to his instruction in the Moravian pottery tradition. His original plate is stamped "FR" on the verso - the "GR" on the front may be his brother George Rothrock - and is housed in the Old Salem Museums & Gardens collections.
This plate is a faithful reproduction to the original and measures 11 1/2" in diameter. Made in North Carolina.
