Welcome to Old Salem

This lovely winter scene is of the Miksch House in Old Salem Museums & Gardens. The Miksch House was the first house built in Salem to be occupied by a single family. Matthew and Henrietta Miksch, and daughter Martha, lived here and sold products from here that included gingerbread, candles, processed tobacco, and snuff.

The Old Salem Museums & Gardens family of shops carry a wide array of merchandise, much of which is featured here in our online store. Please browse and shop our selection of books, music, home décor, museum exclusives, and of course, our much-loved, paper-thin Moravian cookies!

Old Salem Museums & Gardens is America's most comprehensive history attraction. Our three museums - the Historic Town of Salem, the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA) and the Old Salem Toy Museum - engage visitors in an educational and memorable historical experience about those who lived and worked in the early South. Proceeds from your on-line store purchase directly benefit the preservation, restoration, and educational programming at Old Salem Museums and Gardens.
